About the trivia
The question pool. 36 questions across six categories: Movies, Music, History, Traditions, Food & Drink, and Christmas Around the World. Each round serves five randomly selected questions, so two rounds in a row will rarely repeat.
The difficulty tiers. Easy questions are the basics most people know (Santa's reindeer count, the best-selling Christmas single). Medium digs into film trivia, classical music, and well-known global traditions. Hard is for the cultural-history sicko in your group: the Christmas Truce of 1914, Cromwell's 1647 Christmas ban, Caga Tió, the Christmas pickle conspiracy.
Share URLs. Once you finish a round, the page URL bakes in your score, the question set, and the difficulty. Friends who click your link see your exact score, then can take their own round.
The guide
What your score means
Each round is five questions, and your score lands you in one of five bands. Five out of five is Sleighing It. Four is Christmas Champion, three is Yule Veteran, two is Holiday Hobbyist, and anything under two is Casual Carol.
After each answer you get a short explanation, whether you were right or wrong. Most people find that is the best part: the story behind why the Christmas pickle exists is better than getting the question right.
Running it at a party
Split into teams of two to four and have one person per team hold the phone. Everyone plays the same difficulty, each team plays its own round, and you add up scores over three rounds. Five questions takes about 90 seconds, so three rounds fits between dinner and dessert.
Use Easy for a mixed crowd with kids, Mixed for most families, and Hard only if you want an argument about Oliver Cromwell. If two teams tie, play one more Hard round as the tiebreaker.
Because each round draws five questions at random from the pool, teams get different questions, so nobody can copy from the next table.
