Information we collect

Information you give us directly

• Email address. Collected when you sign up for our waitlist or save the results of one of our tools (Christmas Light Calculator, Decor Style Quiz, Budget Planner, Tree Size Calculator, House Style Identifier).
• Tool inputs.Information you provide when using our tools, for example, your home's ceiling height (Tree Size Calculator), quiz answers (Decor Style Quiz, House Style Identifier), or budget categories (Budget Planner). This is stored alongside your email if you save your results.

Information collected automatically

• IP address. Collected when you visit the Site or submit a form. Used for rate limiting (preventing spam) and basic security.
• Browser and device information. Browser type, operating system, screen size, language, and similar technical information collected by our analytics providers.
• Usage information. Pages visited, time spent, referring website, and similar information about how you interact with the Site.

How we use your information

• Send you the results of any tools you ask us to email you (for example, your Christmas Light Calculator shopping list).

Who we share your information with

We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent it, share it with advertisers, or use it for advertising retargeting on third-party platforms.

We share information only with the service providers that operate our infrastructure:

• Upstash (database), stores email addresses and tool inputs you save. Privacy policy: upstash.com/trust/privacy.
• Resend (email delivery), receives your email address and the content of any email we send you. Privacy policy: resend.com/legal/privacy-policy.
• Cloudflare (DNS, email routing, security), processes Site traffic and forwarded email. Privacy policy: cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
• Google Analytics 4 (analytics, set only with your consent), processes usage data. Privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy. We use Consent Mode v2, no analytics data is collected before you accept the cookie banner.
• Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights, anonymous, cookieless aggregated traffic data.

We may also share information if required by law (a valid court order, subpoena, or other legal process), or to enforce our Terms of Service or protect rights, property, or safety.

How long we keep your information

• Email addresses: kept until you ask to be removed, or we close the underlying mailing list.
• Tool input data: kept alongside your email submission for as long as we keep the email itself.
• Server logs (including IP addresses): typically retained for 90 days unless required for security investigations.
• Analytics data:retained per Google Analytics' default (currently 14 months from last interaction).

Cookies and tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies in two categories:

Essential cookies (always on)

We store your cookie consent choice in your browser's local storage so we don't ask you again on every visit. This is required for the Site to function and is not subject to consent under the laws we're aware of.

Analytics cookies (consent required)

We are based in the United States, and our service providers (Vercel, Upstash, Resend, Cloudflare, Google) primarily process data in the United States and other countries. If you are in the EU, UK, or Switzerland, your data may be transferred outside your jurisdiction. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or our service providers' certifications.

Children's privacy

The Site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU/UK). If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and access controls on our databases.
