Christmas Gift Finder
There is always one person on the list who has you stumped. The dad who buys himself everything, the teen whose taste changed last Tuesday, the Secret Santa pick you have spoken to twice. Tell us who you're shopping for, what you want to spend, and what they're like, and we'll hand you a shortlist of gift ideas that actually fit. Not products or sponsored picks, just the kind of suggestions a friend with good taste would make.

The guide
How the gift finder picks ideas
It asks three things: who the gift is for, what you want to spend, and what they are like. Behind those questions is a list of 77 gift ideas, each one tagged with the people it suits, the price bands it realistically lands in, and the kind of person who would love it.
Your budget filters the list first, so nothing comes back that you cannot afford. Then the ideas are ranked, and what the person is like counts for more than who they are to you. A dad who lives in the kitchen has more in common with a friend who lives in the kitchen than with a dad who fishes. You get the strongest five to seven.
Each idea comes with a sentence on why it works and a search phrase you can paste into any store. The list names types of gifts, not specific products, on purpose. Prices and stock change every week in December; a good idea does not.
Getting the most out of the list
Settle the budget before you open the finder. Gifts are about 70 percent of what the average American spends on Christmas, so a per-person number decided in advance does more for your January than any single good idea.
If a list misses, change the answer to the third question before changing anything else. Someone can be cozy and crafty at once, and the second set of ideas is often where the right one is.
Hard to shop for is its own answer. That list leans toward better versions of things people already use every day, like a really good throw or socks that last, plus a few personal pieces such as a photo book of the year or a framed print of a place that matters to them.
Questions about the gift finder
- Is the gift finder free?
- Yes, with no account and no email. Your answers are not stored; they go into the page address so a shared link opens on the same list.
- Why doesn't it suggest specific products?
- Because December prices and stock change daily, and a gift type stays good long after a listing sells out. Each idea includes a search phrase you can paste into whichever store you prefer.
- Can I use it for Secret Santa or a coworker?
- Yes. Choose Coworker / Secret Santa and a budget of under $25 or $25 to $50, which covers most office exchanges.
- Why do I get the same ideas every time?
- Each combination of answers always returns the same list, so a shared link shows exactly what you saw. For different ideas, change one answer, usually the last one.
- How many gift ideas are there?
- 77, covering eight kinds of people, four budgets, and six personalities. Each search returns the best five to seven for your answers.
