The best Christmas lights in Tampa
7 displays · 3 free · Florida
Tampa Bay does Christmas with sunscreen within reach, and somehow that makes the lights feel even more festive. The region splits its holiday energy between big-production nights at ZooTampa and Busch Gardens and a scrappy, generous neighborhood scene where entire subdivisions string themselves for charity.
Displays stretch across the whole bay, from Tampa proper to St. Petersburg and Largo, so plan by geography rather than trying to hit everything in one night. Most events open around mid to late November and run through the first weekend of January, with the free neighborhood routes at their best in mid-December.
1.Christmas in the Wild at ZooTampa
ZooTampa at Lowry Park
ZooTampa's after-dark holiday event wraps the park in more than a million lights, with seasonal animal encounters, festive treats, and holiday shows on select nights. It is included with a membership or a regular day ticket, which makes it one of the better values among big Florida zoo lights. Evenings run from late afternoon until 10pm.
Season: Late November through late December
2.Christmas Town at Busch Gardens
Busch Gardens Tampa Bay
Millions of lights across the park, a choreographed Serengeti light show, holiday drone shows, and coasters running in the dark. Christmas Town is included with regular admission, so a December visit gets you a full theme park day plus the holiday overlay. The ice skating show and hot cocoa stands are traditions for local families.
Season: Mid-November through early January
3.Enchant Christmas at Tropicana Field
St. Petersburg
Billed as the world's largest Christmas light maze, Enchant fills the ballpark with a walk-through light labyrinth, an ice skating trail, and a holiday market. It is the region's most photogenic ticketed lights night, indoors and out of the weather. Weeknight tickets are noticeably cheaper than weekends.
Season: Late November through late December
4.Holiday Lights in Largo Central Park
Largo
More than 2.5 million LED lights blanket this Pinellas County park, with a Ferris wheel, carousel, and carnival rides running alongside the free light display. Park admission costs nothing, and rides are a few dollars each. It has been the bay area's best free big-production lights night for years.
Season: Late November through early January
5.Oakdale Christmas House
Oakdale Street, St. Petersburg
A legendary St. Pete residential display that has piled up as many as half a million lights and been featured on national TV. The family rebuilt after recent hurricane damage, so the display has been running in a scaled-back but still impressive form. It remains a drive-by and walk-up favorite on the south side.
Season: December
6.Lake Park Estates Christmas Lights Tour
Seminole
A self-guided route of more than three miles winding through Lake Park Estates, Lakeside Estates, and neighboring subdivisions between Clearwater and St. Pete, with arrows guiding you house to house. Donations collected along the way go to Suncoast Hospice. It is the closest thing Tampa Bay has to a full neighborhood lights trail.
Season: December
7.Hyde Park Village Holiday Lights
Hyde Park, Tampa
Tampa's upscale open-air shopping village strings its oaks and storefronts with lights after its annual tree lighting kicks off the season. It is a stroll-and-shop lights experience rather than a mega-display, best paired with dinner on the patio. Street parking is tight in December, so use the garage.
Season: Late November through early January
Local tip
Do the bay in two nights: Tampa side for ZooTampa and Hyde Park, then a Pinellas night starting at Largo Central Park at dusk and finishing with the Lake Park Estates neighborhood route in Seminole. Bring small bills for the hospice donation boxes along the neighborhood trail.
Displays and prices are researched from recent seasons and stated approximately; hours, routes, and admission change year to year, so check an event's official page before you drive out.
